We celebrated our daughters birthday on 22nd November in memsaab on a recommendation by our neighbour. All six of us had a wonderful meal. Our total bill came to around £150 including service. With starters, mains, sides dishes and drinks, we felt that it was very reasonable & left £10 extra. The staff were very helpful despite our youngest wanting something which wasnt on the menu. We really couldnt fault it. Food & service were outstanding despite it being nearly full while neighbouring restaurants were nearly empty when we passed by. I think that in itself speaks volumes. From our familys experience, definitely a good recommendation.
Memsaab one of my favourite restaurants
I dont eat out in town very often, but I find Memsaab to be one of my favourite restaurants. Very helpful staff, excellent food, and well priced for a top quality restaurant. Highly recommend. *********er
Try it once, you'll be hooked
When I went to Memsaab I realised what Id been missing at most Indian restaurants Id been to before. If you want good curry this is the place to go and makes having a curry more of an event. I always stick with the safe choice of tikka masala but even this has a creamier more distinct taste than at the majority of curry houses. Definitely worth spending a little extra. And I guarantee, if youve been once youll be back.
The best in Nottingham
There are some outstanding Indian restaurants in Nottingham. But this is the best, without doubt. There can be no argument. The prawn starter I had on my last visit were among the best prawns I have ever had in my life. They were that good! Yes, it is expensive for a curry, but you get so much more than that. This is not your bog standard curry and rice place, it is inventive, tasty and clever. I love the place. Go there.
Top trump
A good curry house is one where every dish tastes different - and that is exactly what you have here. They dont just taste different - each has its own marvellous, exotic flavours and it is the perfect place to go with friends and share some curries because the contrast is incredible. Just writing this makes me want to go down there for dinner tonight!
You get what you pay for
Memsaab has always been a joy. It does feel a bit naughty spending so much but the food is fantastic. They have the best prawn dish I have ever had anywhere. The peshwari naan is also great and portion sizes good. Of course it isn’t cheap but you definitely get the quality you pay for. Hope to be back, but its one for the special, or drunken, nights only!
Lovely lamb!
I agree with the other comments posted that this is one of your Indian restaurants that is more of a sophisticated affair. Ideal for a family meal or a intimate meal for two. Rather than the usual chicken tikka massala I usually go for with your standard Indian, I thought id try something a bit different and went for the Zaika Gosht which is slow cooked lamb in spices. I found it to be really tender and tasty and the garlic naan was not too overpowering so I would get a kiss from my fiance at the end of the night! ;-)
Upmarket spicing
If you want a more memorable, and expensive, Indian dining experience then this is the place to go. Everything from the decor to the presentation of the food here oozes class and sophistication, certainly when compare to your local curry house. Its the little touches that make the difference and this place is abundant with them. The staff are professional and make you feel very welcome. A real treat.
Try the peshwari naan
Now famous for Chris Tarrant’s cutlery incident, Mem Saab is a fantastic Indian located in the heart of the city. With quality dishes and excellent service, each visit is guaranteed to be spot on. You have to try their peshwari naan bread – it’s to die for!
Best Indian in Town
In an area with a lot of Indian Restaurants Memsaab stands out from the crowd. With a sleek, contemporary interior the service and atmosphere match the fantastic food. Not really a place to go after a lot of booze on the town, this is a more sophisticated restaurant to be savoured. Anywhere that prompts my dad to repeatedly say sublime must be good.
